Dr. Fernandez-Mejia is a Full-time Professor at the Biomedical Research Institute, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México/Instituto Nacional de Pediatría in Mexico City. She received her B.S. in Biochemistry from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, and her Ph.D. from the University of Paris VI, in France. She pursued her postdoctoral training at CedarsSinai-Medical-Center, University of California, Los Angeles. Her research focuses on the effects of hormones and vitamins on pancreatic islets. She has published 45 research articles, 20 book chapters, and merited several research honors from the Mexican pharmaceutical industry, the Mexican Biochemistry Society and the Reina Sofia’s award 2000 (Spain).
