Prof Hyun-Duck Kim

Professor Kim got Doctor of Dental Surgery, specialty of Public Health Dentistry and PhD for epidemiology from Seoul National University School of Dentistry. He worked as a visiting scientist in the Department of Oral health Policy and Epidemiology, Harvard School of Dental Medicine in 1998-1999 and 2006-2007, and in the Depart of Periodontology, UNC in 2000. Now, he is a tenure-track professor in the Department of Preventive and Social dentistry, SNU SOD. He serviced as a vice- dean during 2010-2011 and the chairman of the Department of Preventive and Social Dentistry during 2012-2013. He has served for the Korean Academy of Preventive Dentistry as the president during 2014-2016. He was an associate editor of the Korean Journal of Clinical Preventive Dentistry (KSCI) and a board member of the Journal of Community Dentistry and Oral Epidemiology (SCI). He has published and presented more than 290 topics, papers and books. He is also a principal investigator on the research with $3 million by Korean Government, development of Rapid-Test-Kit for periodontitis using salivary proteomics during 2017-2021.

Relationship between oral health and systemic health focusing on periodontitis and cardiovascular diseases, metabolic syndrome and its components

Common approach for preventing periodontal problems and systemic ailments

Developing salivary screening rapid–test -kit using multiflex and NGS systems for periodontitis, cognitive impairment, oral cancer and atherosclerosis

Oral Health Management by Risk Assessment (OHEMBRA) – Oral Cancer (OCAMBRA), Periodontal Health (PEMBRA), Dental Caries (CAMBRA), Salivary Health (SAMBRA)

Social, clinical and epidemiological research on occupational oral problems such as statutory occupational dental erosion

Developing the early diagnosis and prognosis tool of periodontitis using OMICs including NGS, genomics and Proteomics.

Developing the early diagnosis and prognosis tool of Oral SCC using proteomics.
