Dr. Friend is Chief Scientific Officer at Daré Bioscience.  He is responsible for development, including clinical evaluation, of various products for female and reproductive health.  These products include the recently FDA-approved product XACIATO™, a single dose clindamycin phosphate vaginal gel for treatment of bacterial vaginosis.  He was previously the Chief Scientific Officer at Evofem located in San Diego, CA from 2015 to 2018.  He was Director, Product Development and Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the CONRAD Program of Eastern Virginia Medical School from 2007 to 2015.  CONRAD developed a range of vaginal HIV prevention products and contraceptives.
