Department of Food Science and Nutrition, King Saud
University, Saudi Arabia. Involved in a project studying the effect of
ultrafiltration of camel milk on the growth of different species of
bifidobacteria.
September-December (1992):
Faculty of Science and Innovation (NEWI), University
of Salford (U.K.). Involved in a project studying the application of immunosorbent
assays (ELISA) in the detection of porcine pepsin as a coagulating enzyme,
developing an ELISA technique to detect different pesticide residues in food
and dairy products.
October (1991)-March (1992):
Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition,
University of Florida (U.S.A) Involved in a project studying the
viability of lactic acid bacteria in soft-serve frozen yogurt, using
transmission electron microscopy to examine the injury of the cells due to
freezing and thawing.
1988 – 1991:
Department of Food and Dairy Science, El-Minia
University, Egypt. Extensive experience in isolation and identification of sporeforming bacteria,
purification and characterization of extracellular proteases. Using the
technique of immobilization of bacterial cells. Identification of different
microbial flora from local dairy products.
GRADUATE RESEARCH ASSISTANT:
1984 – 1988:
Department of Microbiology, University of Edinburgh
(U.K.). Designed and conducted research projects studying the isolation and
identification of protease-producing psychrotorophic bacteria. Used electron
microscopy, photometry analysis and atomic absorption. Carried out research
project studying production and properties of extracellular proteases.
Experience with protein purification, column chromatography, gel
electrophoresis, rocket immunoelectrophoresis, HPLC and protease specificity.
GRADUATE RESEARCH:
1979 – 1982:
Department of Food and Dairy Science, University of
El-Minia, Egypt. Designed and conducted research projects dealing with extraction
of soymilk, manufacture of soft cheese and amino acid analysis.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE:

Supervised eight M.Sc. students and three Ph.D.
students at the University of El-Minia, Egypt.
1984 – 1988:
Supervised two honors degree students, taught courses
